The fifth episode of the show brings us back to the realm of the emperors, as Joey explores the tomb of Emperor Yong Zheng. Emperor Yong Zheng’s tomb is located in the area known as the Western Qing Tombs. He was the first emperor to be buried in the area.

In this episode, we can see the effects of long-term and short-term Feng Shui. Emperor Yong Zheng’s tomb location was selected based on requirements to ensure that quick, effective results were possible for his future descendant and son. In that sense, the area was chosen specifically for its Feng Shui capabilities that can assure the success and ascent of his son.

At the same time, Joey reveals to viewers the disadvantages of the tomb location – for example, one of the key factors being that the Left and Right Embraces are too low. A landform situation like that can lead to the inability of Qi being collected. Also, the water formations in the area are less than ideal, which can also contribute to the depletion of Qi.

These Feng Shui facts bear itself out when we observe Yong Zheng’s lineage. His immediate successor and son, Qian Long, is the only one who derived any benefit from the location of the tomb. The subsequent generations didn’t fare so well and eventually the Qing Dynasty lost its throne in China.

Get an actual example of how Feng Shui can simultaneously create good and bad effects if not thought through properly in this intriguing episode that explores Emperor Yong Zheng’s tomb!
