Joey speaks to an international audience on classical Feng Shui in Dubai, UAE

18th - 20th January 2007

The huge, superbly designed Shaikh Rashid Hall at the Dubai International Convention & Conference Center was the venue of The Wellbeing Show 2007, from January 18th to 20th. As its name implies, human health was the centerpiece of this Show, and what an event it proved to be, indeed!

Officiated by the UAE Minister of Health, Humaid Mohammad Al Qutami, this 3-day Show saw close to 100 exhibitors from all over the world, more than 10,000 visitors and 48 speakers – each a specialist in a particular field related to physical and mental wellness – converging upon the Center to learn more about the diverse aspects of human health.

Malaysia was represented by Joey Yap, who accepted the invitation from organizers to participate in this event, which reportedly generated more than US$1.3 million in terms of media coverage throughout the Middle East and Gulf Coast countries. And as luck would have it, Joey was the first speaker to take to the stage on Day 1!

He started off by sharing with his diverse mix of international (an estimated 80% of Dubai’s population consists of expatriates) and local audience on what classical Feng Shui is about, before proceeding to explain how it can be applied to improve quality of life. Joey subsequently took his listeners on a journey into Feng Shui for 2007, by sharing with them how Flying Stars are used to determine the types of Qi prevalent in different sectors of a residence or office in different years. His first 45-minute talk on Day 1 surprisingly saw many curious and interested faces filling the auditorium to capacity, given that there were 5 other auditoriums where other speakers were also simultaneously delivering talks on other health-related topics.

There was an even bigger treat for those who attended Joey’s talk on Day 2 of the Show – he shared with them Face Reading (Mian Xiang) tips! And as with audiences from any part of the world, Joey’s Face Reading discourse proved to be such a hit amongst visitors in Dubai that extra chairs had to be brought into the auditorium where he gave his talk. Joey demonstrated to his audience how key facial features such as the forehead, eyes, ears and nose could be used to tell a person’s character and destiny in life. Judging from the smiles that crossed the faces of listeners as they left, it was clear that they would never look at a face the same way again!

Overall, the Show turned out quite well for the Mastery Academy team present there, as the Academy’s booth at the Hall hosted a continuous stream of visitors throughout the opening hours of the Show, over the entire 3-day period. If the magnitude of visitors who dropped by Joey’s talks and the Mastery Academy booth were anything to go by, it was certainly heartening to see a healthy (no pun intended) interest in classical Feng Shui, BaZi and Face Reading in the Middle East!

A little take on Dubai...

The luxurious seaside city of Dubai is indeed a glittering jewel in the crowning glory of the United Arab Emirates. Rising seemingly out of nowhere with spectacular architecture bedecking its skyline, Dubai is situated in this opulent Gulf state’s northwest – and has the best structural designs and engineering that money can buy.

Joey was privileged to be able to experience staying at the Burj Al Arab (Arabic for `Tower of the Arabs’), which has also hosted celebrities such as golfer Tiger Woods, tennis players Andre Agassi and Roger Frederer and a bevy of Hollywood celebrities the likes of Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie. This hotel epitomizes luxury, and is built on a artificial island 280 meters away from the beach of the Persian Gulf – connected to the mainland via a private curving bridge. It rightfully boasts many firsts in terms of records and world-rankings, but Joey just had to assess the Feng Shui aspects of the Burj Al Arab. Armed with his trusty Luo Pan, he wasn’t surprised to discover prominent features that point towards the hotel enjoying prosperous Feng Shui properties – particularly during the current Period 8!
