Question Posted: 20 Feb 2006 at 12:00:00 AM
My date of birth, as in my birth certificate is 16th August 1941. Most of the ready reckoners converting Solar birthdates to Lunar (Chinese) dates state this to be 6th Moon 24th of a leap month. My mother insists that my Chinese date of birth is 23rd of the 6th Moon. As the Ba Zi of these two dates are vasely different, can you shed some light into this? TQ.

Dear SK, For feng shui we use the western date birth day but it is used against the Sloar calendar. That means that your western date is used but the new year begins on the 4th of February each year and in a leap year on the 5th February. For example, if you were born on 26th January 1980 then you are considered to be born in the year 1979 as 1980 is only considered to have begun on 4th February. Regards Di
